Meghalaya, one of the most enchanting states of Northeast India, is draped in floating mist and rightfully known as the “Abode of the Clouds.” Blessed with unmatched natural charm, it is an ideal destination for long, refreshing holidays. The hill station of Shillong, often called the “Scotland of the East,” continues to attract travelers year-round.

Home to the Khasi and Garo communities, Meghalaya is a paradise for nature lovers. Another gem of Meghalaya is Mawlynnong, about 80 km from Shillong, celebrated as Asia’s Cleanest Village and a must-visit destination for serene rural experiences.

Meghalaya is well-connected to major Indian cities. Travelers can fly to Guwahati Airport and hire a taxi to Shillong. The state also has its own airport—Shillong Airport—which operates limited flights.
