Day-Wise Program
Guwahati – Shillong (110 kms / 3 hours) - Day 1
Arrival at Guwahati Airport, meet and greet, then drive to Shillong, with a halt at Umiam Lake. Explore Wards Lake and Lady Hydri Park on arrival, and visit Don Bosco Museum after lunch. Spend a pleasant evening in Shillong. Overnight stay at Shillong.
Shillong – Mawlynnong, Dawki, Shillong (89 kms / 2 and half hours) - Day 2
After an early breakfast, drive to Mawlynnong, Asia’s cleanest village. Explore attractions such as the Living Root Bridge, Balancing Rock, and Sky View Point. After lunch in Mawlynnong, continue to Dawki, a quaint village on the Indo-Bangladesh border. The crystal-clear waters of the Umngot River are truly unforgettable, and you can enjoy a boat ride here. Later, transfer back to your hotel in Shillong. Evening free to explore Police Bazaar. Overnight stay in Shillong.
Shillong - Day Trip To Cherrapunjee (65 kms / 2 hours) - Guwahati - Day 3
After breakfast, take a scenic drive to Cherrapunjee with views of cloud-covered hills and deep gorges. En route, visit the majestic Elephant Falls. Explore limestone caves and waterfalls in Cherrapunjee, including Arwah Caves, Nohkalikai Falls, Mawsmai Caves, Eco Park, Bangladesh View Point, and Thangkharang Park. Drive back to Guwahati for an evening Rover cruise on the Brahmaputra. Overnight stay in Guwahati.
Arrive at Phuentsholing from Guwahati - Day 4
Today begins with an early morning drive to Phuentsholing. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel and complete the necessary route permit procedures. Spend the day at leisure. Night stay in Phuentsholing.
Phuentsholing – Thimphu (179 kms / 5 – 6 hours drive) - Day 5
In the morning, transfer to Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan, through breathtaking mountain scenery. The route passes northern Indian tea plantations and winds through hairpin bends and stretches carved into the mountains via Chukka. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel. Spend a relaxing afternoon, then explore the Clock Tower Square and take a brisk walk around the CBD in the evening. Overnight stay in Thimphu.
Thimphu Sightseeing - Day 6
Experience Thimphu’s unique charm where traffic is controlled by cheerful policemen instead of lights. Enjoy sightseeing at the Folk Heritage Museum, National Library, Handicraft Center, Indigenous Medicine Hospital, Painting School, and a view of Tashichho Dzong. Continue to Takin Zoo to see Bhutan’s national animal. In the afternoon, visit the National Memorial Chorten and Buddha statue. Take an evening walk from Clock Tower Square to explore the main city. Night stay in Thimphu.
Thimphu – Paro Valley (65 kms - 1 hour drive) - Day 7
Morning drive to Paro Valley and visit the National Museum, situated in the circular Ta Dzong fortress with an exceptional collection of natural and historical artifacts. Explore Paro Dzong nearby. In the afternoon, visit Paro Penlop Heritage Farmhouse, the sacred 7th-century Kyichu Lhakhang, and the historic ruins of Drukgyel Dzong, a 17th-century fortress. Overnight stay in Paro.
Paro Taktsang (A day long hike) - Day 8
After an early breakfast, embark on a visit to the world-famous Tigers Nest, also known as Taktsang, one of Bhutan’s most iconic spiritual heritage sites. Legend has it that Guru Padmasambhava flew here from Tibet on a tiger to introduce Buddhist teachings to Bhutan. Overnight stay at your hotel in Paro.
Paro – Phuentsholing – Bagdogra (4-5 hours drive) - Day 9
Morning transfer through Phuentsholing to Bagdogra. Switch to an Indian vehicle at the border and proceed to Bagdogra for onward travel.
Gangtok - Zuluk via Nathula (Day 9)
